Mak unveils VC’s Roster of 100; amends the Sexual Harassment policy; and launches Safer Universities project

On Thursday 29th August 2019, the Vice Chancellor of Makerere University Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe represented by the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Prof. William Bazeyo unveiled members of the Vice Chancellor’s Standing Roster of 100; launched the amended Policy and Regulations against Sexual Harassment; and the Safer Universities Project.

The aforementioned strategies re-affirm Makerere University’s commitment to fight against sexual harassment.

Mak rolls out Government Research and Innovations Fund

Makerere University has announced its work plan of rolling out and management of the Government Research and Innovations Fund for the financial year 2019/2020. This was at the Sensitization meeting held on 23rd August 2019 in the University Main Hall. The meeting was attended by Management, Heads of Academic and Administrative Units as well as researchers and PhD students.

Prof. Archileo Kaaya on 19th August 2019 handed over the instruments of power to Dr. Ivan Muzira Mukisa as the new Head Department of Food Technology and Human Nutrition (FTHN).

Prof. Kaaya’s first appointment was on 19th January 2011 while the second was on 1st July 2015 and officially came to an end on 30th June 2019.

By the time Prof. Kaaya took over office as Head, the university had just turned collegiate, leading to the establishment of the School of Food Technology, Nutrition and Bio engineering (SFTNB).

Former Makerere University soil science Masters and PhD students on Saturday 17th August 2019 recognized Assoc. Prof. John Steven Tenywa (JS Tenywa) for his distinguished service as a Scientist, Lecturer and Mentor.

The students organized a surprise party and presented different gifts including a plaque and a sum of two million shillings to thank Dr. JS Tenywa for his dedicated service during their time of study at Makerere University.
