Prof. Adipala Ekwamu awarded Honorary Doctorate by University of Gezira

Prof. Adipala Ekwamu, Executive Secretary of the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM), whose Secretariat is located at Makerere University, Kampala Uganda

In a meeting held on Sunday 23rd June 2019, the Senate of University of Gezira (Sudan), awarded an Honorary Doctorate to Prof. Adipala Ekwamu, Executive Secretary of the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM). Prof Adipala was recognised for his outstanding scientific achievements as a university professor, his strong belief in Africa driving its agenda and in higher education being key to the development in Africa. The University Senate also appreciated Prof.

CTA Releases the Digitalisation of African Agriculture Report, 2018-2019

The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Co-operation (CTA) has released the Digitalisation of African Agriculture Report, 2018-2019. According to the CTA website, there has been significant growth in digitalisation for agriculture (D4Ag) over the last ten years. In 2019 both the European Union-African Union Task Force Rural Africa Report (TFRA) and the Communiqué from the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) highlighted the power of digitalisation in transforming agriculture.

ToT-400 is the professional track of the Strengthening Education and Training in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SET-SRHR) Curriculum Delivery component. The course is a standardized, professional, in-service SRHR Trainer-of-Trainers certificate course offered jointly by the Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH) and Nsamizi Training Institute of Social Development (NTISD) with MakSPH as the awarding institution.

The National Information Technology Authority – Uganda (NITA-Uganda) hosted a successful eGovernment Excellence Expo on 20th – 21st June 2019  at the Garden city Rooftop under the theme “Bold Digital Government: Unlocking Service Delivery”

The event that attracted more than 50 exhibitors, was officially opened by the Minister of Finance; Hon. Matia Kasaija. It presented a remarkable platform where public entities had an opportunity to engage with clients and share their service delivery experience as well as their advancement in leveraging technology.

The UAPS 8th African Population Conference

The 8th African Population Conference will be jointly hosted by the Government of Uganda and UAPS from 18th to 22nd November 2019.

Every four years, The Union for African Population Studies (UAPS) organizes a general conference on the African population. The aim of this conference is to share and disseminate research evidence on population and development issues and explore ways for applying the research evidence to improve policies and programs aimed at uplifting the well-being of people in Africa. The conference provides an opportunity for networking and knowledge sharing among researchers, policy makers, program managers, international development partners, and other key stakeholders in the population field.

Time Series Analysis of Tourist Arrivals in Uganda (1990 to 2018)

Staff, Students and Members of the Public queue to access the Freedom Square on one of the days during the BBC Science Festival hosted by Makerere University from 24th to 29th March 2013, Kampala Uganda. Makerere attracts a thousands of visitors both from within and outside Uganda every year.

This study was to investigate the general trend of tourist arrivals in Uganda from 1990 to 2017 and to construct an autoregressive model of a suitable order for the process. The test statistics used in this research were autocorrelation function, autoregressive model and partial autocorrelation function.
