Energy audit at Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) Mulago Facility

The Gardens at the College of Health Sciences (CHS), Mulago Campus, Makerere University, Kampala Uganda

This project was carried out at the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) Mulago Facility located at Makerere University College of Health Sciences, Mulago Hospital complex in relation to energy audit of the Institute. The project was motivated by management's concern about the high energy cost which consumes about 23% of the operations annual utilities budget thereby affecting other vital operational activities which have to share the remaining 77%.

Four Makerere University Student Teams win at Big Ideas Contest

We are more than excited to share that four Makerere University teams who submitted final proposals to the Big Ideas contest at UC Berkeley, were selected as Big Ideas award recipients from a pool of 350 submissions. These awards include a 1st Place prize in the Global Health category, a 2nd Place prize in the Energy & Resources Category, a 2nd Place prize in the Food Systems Category and an Honorable Mention in the Global Health category.

Catholics urged to always give back to God

A Catholic faithful kneels before Mother Mary’s Grotto at St. Augustine Chapel, Makerere University, Kampala Uganda. The Grotto was commissioned by the Parish Priest of Christ the King Church, Msgr. Gerald Kalumba on 28th April 2019.

The Parish Priest of Christ the King Church, Msgr. Gerald Kalumba urged Catholics to always give back to God. This was during the commissioning of Mother Mary’s Grotto and celebrating Community Day at St. Augustine Chapel, Makerere University on Sunday 28th April 2019.

“God has given us the greatest gift of all, which is life therefore, all the wealth we have belongs to Him. It is for that reason that we should endeavor to give back to Him through supporting church projects financially, morally and spiritually,” said Msgr. Kalumba.

The Renewable Energy Research Group (RERG) at the Physics Department, Makerere University, invites applications for the Training Workshop in Solar Photovoltaic Installation and Maintenance, Biogas production and Solar Thermal System, which will be held at the Department of Physics from 5th to 9th August 2019.

The training will mainly be based on practical design and connection of these systems.
