The College of Natural Sciences (CoNAS), Makerere University in conjunction with Uganda Women Mathematicians (UGAWOM) present the International Day of Mathematics (IDM) and Second RUN4MATHS Marathon due to take place on Saturday, 16th March 2019. Pi Day is celebrated on March 14 annually (Pi = 3.14).

Makerere University Careers Fair 2019

Students participate in a group activity at the Counselling and Guidance Centre (Opposite Mary Stuart Hall), Makerere University, Kampala Uganda. The CGC-MCFSP will be held from 21st - 22nd March 2019 at CTF2, CoBAMS.

The Makerere University Guidance and Counseling Centre in conjunction with Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program bring you the Annual Careers Fair 2019. The career Fair is a platform where students of Makerere University get an opportunity to interact with prospective employers from the industry. The purpose is to expose students to different players in the market and equip them with the latest information in the employment landscape.

On Tuesday, 12th March 2019, Makerere University College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) hosted the thematic workshop session on Food Security and Climate Science as part of the three day Mak-North Carolina State (NC State) University summit.  Key presentations were made by Dr. Steven A. Lommel, Associate Dean, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS), NC State and José Cisneros, Director, CALS International Programs; Assistant Professor of Practice, Horticulture International & Entrepreneurship.

We have further established that this deceitful tactic is commonly referred to as Chemical which is intended to malice and undermine fair competition in student guild elections.

Modelling the impact of stunting on childhood survival in Buhweju District

The School of Food Technology, Nutrition and Bioengineering, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES), Makerere University, Kampala Uganda

Stunting affects close to 2.4 million children in Uganda and it is among the major contributors to the annual loss in productivity equivalent to $899 million. This study sought to identify the risk factors for the persistently high stunting rates in Buhweju district, model impact of stunting reduction on child survival and the cost of interventions required to prevent it.

Assessment of Tsetse Fly Invasion on Social Ecological Resilience of the People of Northern Karamoja

This study sought to: i) characterize tsetse fly spatial distribution, ii) determine factors influencing tsetse fly prevalence and ii) determine the effect of Tsetse fly invasion on socio-ecological resilience of Northern Karamoja. Results showed that tsetse prevalence was high in close proximity to Kidepo Valley National Game Park. Tsetse distribution patterns varied with location, altitude, human population settlements, land cover/ vegetation types and rainfall gradients.
