Dr. Alice Nabatanzi, a lecturer in the Department of Plant Sciences, Microbiology and Biotechnology at the College of Natural Sciences (CoNAS) has been awarded an Early Career Research Leader Fellowship by the University of Pretoria (UP), South Africa. The fellowship will take a split-site approach between Makerere University and University of Pretoria.

Needfinding is Very Important for any Innovation

Six months ago, my team and other innovators received grants to come up with technological Innovations that could help communities in Uganda End Violence Against Women and Girls. Through a hackathon session organized and facilitated by the ResilientAfrica Network (RAN), we were privileged to be among teams that were selected to benefit from support from UN Women.  Our proposed solution to ending violence against women and girls among others was taken up to receive incubation support additionally benefiting from RAN’s innovation incubation program.

RAN at the UNDP Istanbul Innovation Days 2018

Nathan Tumuhamye, Director, Eastern Africa Resilience Innovation Lab makes RAN's presentation at the UNDP Instanbul Innovation Days on 28th November 2018

Leveraging from partnership and collaboration, Makerere University's ResilientAfrica Network (RAN) was invited by  United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to participate in the 2018 UNDP Istanbul Innovation Days in Turkey. The theme of the event was “The Next Generation Governance” RAN was represented by Nathan Tumuhamye, the Director Eastern Africa Resilience Innovation Lab.
