Mak Admitted to Environment for Development Initiative Network

Makerere University was on Monday, 5th November 2018 admitted to Environment for Development (EfD) Initiative Network in Hanoi Vietnam . EfD is Sida funded network undertaking policy research, training and outreach in the areas of environmental and natural resource economics. The Secretariat is based at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden.

The Department of Political Science and Public Administration, College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS), Makerere University on Thursday, 1st November 2018 held a seminar to discuss the UNDP-funded Rule of Law and Constitutional Democracy project research papers.  The event took place at Fairway Hotel in Kampala and was attended by members of staff and students from the Department as well as representatives from UNDP and Parliament Watch.

On Saturday, 3rd November 2018, Prof. William Bazeyo, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance and Administration) at Makerere University emerged both the Country and Regional Winner of the Great Lakes 2018/2019 CEO Global Pan African Awards for Africa’s Most Influential Women in Business and Government, and Titans-Building Nations at a colourful ceremony held at Protea Hotel, Kampala.

However, the promotion of Sports Tourism in Uganda is still low due to the little attention given to sports promotion and development. There is also a lot of competition from the already established tourism activities like cultural tourism and eco tourism.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe on the morning of Friday, 2nd November 2018 flagged off an assortment of relief items under the Aid Bududa Community (ABC) initiative to Bududa District. Launched on 15th October 2018, the ABC is spearheaded by the Makerere University Academic Staff Association (MUASA) and will be carried out in two phases; the Benevolent Phase 1 and Scientific Phase 2.
