The Chief Executive Officer of Nice House of Plastics and Chairperson of Uganda Manufacturer Association, Ms Barbara Mulwana, has advised university students to engage in innovative ways of job creation.  This was during the 9th Pakasa Forum held on Thursday 11th October 2018; to give young entrepreneurs skills on how to start business and survive in a competitive business environment.

Influence of Biology Education on Knowledge and Attitudes towards Biodiversity Conservation among A’level Biology Students in Wakiso District

The E-Learning And Teacher Education (ELATE) Building, College of Education and External Studies (CEES), Makerere University, Kampala Uganda

There is increasing loss of biodiversity both globally and locally. Important determinants of this loss are mainly human induced. This study assessed level of knowledge and attitudes of A’ level biology students towards biodiversity conservation. This was a cross-sectional study carried out among A’level biology students in Wakiso District. A total of 326 participants from ten sampled schools in the district were selected using simple random sampling.

University of Agder Seeks Collaboration with Mak

The University of Agder in Norway is seeking collaboration with the Department of Social Work and Social Administration at Makerere University. On 10th October 2018, a team of nine faculty from the University of Agder led by the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr Anne Halvorsen paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor to present their interests and further discuss modalities for collaboration.

A delegation of six led by the President of the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (KU), Prof. Dr. Gabriele Gien, on Wednesday, 10th October 2018 visited Makerere University and paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor. They were received by on behalf of Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe by the Acting Vice Chancellor and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs), Dr. Ernest Okello Ogwang, The Principal College of Computing and Information Sciences (CoCIS), Prof. Tonny Oyana and the International Office’s Ms. Martha Muwanguzi.

The purpose of this project was to develop computer application software to estimate parameters in double sampling design. Double sampling or two-phase sampling is used in a wide variety of surveys which includes situations of non-response, missing data, populations that are rare, remote or hard to access, sampling at multiple occasions and in quality control studies.

Makerere University on Monday, 8th October 2018 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Public Safety Research (IPSR), Tsinghua University, Beijing China. Tsinghua is China’s leading University recently ranked twenty second globally by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2019.
