Request for Expression of Interest: Centre for Tobacco Control in Africa (CTCA) Consultancy to develop its M&E 2019 – 2025

The Centre for Tobacco Control in Africa (CTCA) was established in July 2011 by the World Health Organisation with funding from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to build and sustain institutional capacity of African governments in tobacco control. The Centre which is hosted by the Makerere University School of Public Health is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation through the Africa Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF).

Dr. Poplack, Ryoichi Sasakawa Receive Mak’s Prestigious Honorary Doctorates

Dr. David Poplack, Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine receives his award from the Chancellor, Prof. Ezra Suruma (Right) at a special graduation ceremony held on 9th August 2018 in the Main Hall. Euphoria swept over the special congregation in the Main Hall on the morning of 9th August 2018 as Dr. David Poplack and the Late Ryoichi Sasakawa received Makerere University’s prestigious Honorary Doctorate of Science (Honoris Causa) and Honorary Doctorare of Laws (Honoris Causa) respectively.

Chinese Embassy awards 30 Scholarships to Makerere University students

 The Ambassador of China to Uganda, H.E. Zheng Zhuaiang, handing over the cheque to  the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Prof. William Bazeyo. Present were the State Minister for Higher Education Hon. John Chrysostom Muyingo and  the Acting Director of Gender Mainstreaming, Dr. Euzobia M. Baine.

The Embassy of China to Uganda has awarded two categories Scholarships; the Ambassador’s Award for Excellence and the Ambassador’s Award for Friendship to Makerere University continuing students. Officially launched by the State Minister for Higher Education Hon. John Chrysostom Muyingo on behalf of the Minister of Education and Sports Hon. Janet Kataaha Museveni, the Scholarships Award was received by the Vice Chancellor of Makerere University Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Prof. William Bazeyo on 8th August 2018.

‘Say No to sexual harassment’, Mak Administrators advise freshers

The Acting Director of Makerere University Gender and Mainstreaming, Dr. Euzobia Mugisha Baine has urged the incoming students to openly defy the sexual harassment vice and stand strong for their academic rights. This was during the Makerere University Freshers’ Orientation Meeting held on 6th August 2018 to welcome the new students for the Academic year 2018/2019.

Speaking to thousands of freshers in the Makerere University Freedom Square, Dr. Mugisha Baine encouraged students to acquaint themselves with the Makerere University Policy and Regulations against Sexual Harassment.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has committed up to $24 million to
