Rector of University of Agder visits Makerere ahead of DELC 2018 International Conference

On 5th July 2018, the Rector of University of Agder, Norway Prof. Frank Reichert visited Makerere University ahead of the 1st International Conference on Open, Distance and eLearning (DELC 2018 International conference).  Accompanied by delegates from University of Agder, the Principal of College of Education and External Studies Prof. Fred Masagazi Masaazi and the Deputy Principal of College of Education and External Studies Dr. Paul Birevu Muyinda, Prof. Frank Reichert paid a courtesy call to the Vice Chancellor of Makerere University Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe.

In a presentation to Makerere University Top Management on 5th July 2018, on Running a forward looking and efficient college within a land grant university system; a case example of Michigan State University, John B. Kaneene; a University distinguished Professor at the Centre of Comparative Epidemiology, Michigan State University said that there is need for colleges to improve both their administrative and teaching systems, resource for more funding and motivate staff.

The Office of the Academic Registrar Makerere University wishes to congratulate candidates for Government Sponsorship under the Mature Age Entry Scheme upon their recent admission by the Universities Joint Admissions Board.

The Office has released the list for both Government Sponsorship and Private Sponsorship under the Mature Age Entry Scheme

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University, announces that the Mature Age Entry Scheme examinations for the academic year 2019/2020 entry will be held on Saturday 15th December, 2018.

To be eligible for the mature age entry examinations, the candidate must be at least 25 years old before 1st August, 2019.

Makerere University’s Department of Agricultural Production in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Western Sydney University (WSU) to promote collaborative research. The MoU signed on 20th June 2018 is in recognition of the mutual benefits gained through a cooperative program of promoting scholarly activities and international understanding.

The Early Career Women Scientists (ECWS) fellowship is a prestigious award of up to USD 50,000 offered to women who have completed their PhDs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects and are employed at an academic or scientific research institute in one of the listed Science and Technology Lagging Countries (STLCs). ECWS fellows will be supported to continue their research at an international level while based at their home institutes and to build up research groups that will attract international visitors.

MARCCI Procures Equipment Worth One Billion

Makerere University’s World Bank funded Regional Centre for Crop Improvement (MaRCCI) on Friday June 29th 2018 procured the recent first class agricultural equipment to help students in the tilling of land for crop improvement.

The equipment procured at a cost of about sh1b was received by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe at the Makerere University Agricultural Research Institute (MUARIK) Kabanyolo.

On Monday 2nd July 2018, Makerere Universality Students’ Guild Special Committee presented a report; proposing a uniform and moderate 15% tuition increment for new students across all programs effective Academic Year 2018/2019.
