Guidelines for Freshers of 2018/2019 Academic Year

First Year students (Freshers) are by tradition given an “acclimatization” period of normally one week which is referred to as the “Orientation Week”. The Freshers report on Campus one week earlier than the Continuing students and during this week they are introduced to the key facilities in the University as well as other important aspects of life at the University.

The World Library Day Celebrations held on Friday, 13th July 2018 in the University Library concluded on a high as the Minister of ICT and National Guidance-Hon. Frank Tumwebaze and Executive Director, National Planning Authority (NPA)-Dr. Joseph Muvawala both graciously accepted the request to champion efforts to raise funds to support procurement of e-resources and related library activities at Makerere University. The request had earlier been presented by the University Librarian-Dr.

On 6th July 2018, Seventeen (17) delegates from the Institute of Security Studies Abuja, Nigeria visited Makerere University. The historical visit aimed at benchmarking the best practices of Makerere University as one of the premier and oldest Universities in Africa. The visit in line with deepening Uganda and Nigeria relations also focused on introducing the delegates to Makerere University’s research and innovation masterpieces in order to have  a deeper understanding of the University as one of the leading institutions of higher learning.

Mak applauds Augustine Tamale for professionalism in the world of accountancy

Mr.  Augustine Tamale receiving a plaque as a sign of appreciation for the unmeasurable service he rendered to the University. The Plaque was handed over to him by the Director of Internal Audit Mr. Walter Yorac Nono on behalf of Makerere University.

 It was a moment of joy when Makerere University together with other invited guests celebrated the graceful and memorable period of their former University Bursar Mr. Augustine Tamale. This was at a colourful farewell party organised by Makerere University Finance Department on 29th June 2018 to celebrate Mr. Tamale’s dedicated service at Makerere University.

Makerere University is hosting the 1st International Conference on Open, Distance and eLearning (DELC 2018 International Conference) from 9th to 10th July, 2018 in the Main Hall. The Conference was officially opened on Monday, 9th July 2017 by Dr. Eria Hisali, the Principal, College of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS) on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe. The conference was also graced by the Rector of University of Agder, Norway Prof.
