The Directorate of Research and Graduate Training, Makerere University invites applications for Scholarships under the Mak-Sweden Research programme. Applications are invited from employees of any of the four Partner Public Universities (Makerere, Gulu , Busitema and Mbarara University of Science and Technology).

Scholarships positions include 3 Postdoc fellowships in Mathematics; 7 Master degree in Social Sciences; 2 Library and 1 Master degree at College of Health Sciences.

Mak Signs Collaboration Agreement with Guangdong University of Foreign Studies

Makerere University on Thursday, 17th May 2018 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) to promote cultural, educational exchange, collaboration and technical interchange between the two Universities. The MoU was signed on behalf of Mak by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe and on GDUFS’ behalf by the President, Prof. Sui Guangjun.

On 10th May 2018, the Outgoing Director, for ICT Support (DICTs) Eng. Frank Kitumba handed over office to the appointed Acting Director Mr. Mugabi Samuel Paul. 

The handover ceremony took place at the Directorate of ICT Support, College of Engineering Design Art and Technology (CEDAT) and was presided over by Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Dr. Eria Hisali.  It was witnessed by Mr. Walter Yorac Nono-the Director of Internal Audit, Mr. Andrew Abunyang- Director of Human Resource and Mr. Henry Mwebe - the Director Legal Affairs.

On May 14th May 2018, it was with great pleasure that I handed over the Eco-water purifier system (Water purification system) to the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Health Center IV in Kisenyi one of the suburbs in Kampala. The Eco-water purifier is now serving more than 300 people daily. These people are mainly seeking treatment and management of HIV/AIDs.

The first five year (2018-2022) Operational Plan of the RUFORUM Vision 2030 Strategy (The African Universities’ Agenda for Agricultural Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation – AHESTI) has been approved.  The approval took place during the 14th Executive Board Meeting at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, held in Nairobi, Kenya on 12th May 2018 and was chaired by Professor Mabel Imbuga the Board Chairperson.
