Mak VC Prof. Nawangwe Sponsors 200 Students for MakRun 2018

The Vice Chancellor of Makerere University, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe has sponsored 200 students to participate in the coming MakRun 2018. The Run will take place on Sunday 25th March 2018 and will be flagged off by, the Katikkiro of Buganda, Ow'ekitiibwa Charles Peter Mayiga who is also an alumnus of the University at 7:00am in the Makerere University Freedom Square.

Makerere University and Partners Receive African Union Grant to Facilitate African Swine Fever Research

Through its competitive research grants the African Union has awarded a research grant of USD 1,249,988 to a consortium of scientists led by the College of Natural Sciences (CoNAS), Makerere University to implement a three year research project titled, ‘Developing innovative and sustainable approaches to prevent the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Africa (ASF-RESIST)’.

The EU under its Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme, has provided funding to support an academic partnership “Collaborative Training and Research in Fisheries and Aquaculture in East, Southern and Central Africa (CoTRA)” project to training of professionals to achieve sustainable fisheries management and aquaculture resources that shall lead to increased fish production and enhanced food and nutritional security, and hence, improved livelihood and household revenue.
