MCF First Cohort Graduates advised to be useful citizens

Ms. Claire Muga Akinyi graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Community Psychology.

On 20th January 2016, the MasterCard foundation at Makerere University organized a flourish party for the First Cohort Scholars who graduated during the 68th Makerere University graduation. The highly colorful ceremony was attended by parents/guardians, Mastercard Foundation Project Implementation Team, Makerere University Management among other invited guests to celebrate the academic achievement of the Scholars.

Emmanuel Afutu, now with a new title added to his name ‘Doctor’, was ecstatic as he and his colleagues joined RUFORUM staff on 16th January 2018 during a lunch get-together organized at the Secretariat to honour the new PhD graduates.  He was among the 13 RUFORUM-sponsored students who were conferred with Doctorates during the 68th Graduation Ceremony of Makerere University in Uganda, under PhD programmes of Plant Breeding and Biotechnology (PBB) and Agricultura

The Africa Center of Excellence in Aquaculture and Fisheries Science at LUANAR (AquaFish ACE), in partnership with RUFORUM, earlier this month welcomed visiting professors from RUFORUM member universities in Nigeria, Tanzania, Sudan and Kenya. The visit was part of the Aquafish Staff Exchange Program aimed at improvingthe quality of postgraduate programmes at LUANAR.

The College of Computing and Information Sciences (CoCIS) hosted a delegation from the Kyungpook National University (KNU), Daegu, South Korea on the 15th Jan 2018. The main objective of their visit was to sign an MOU with Makerere University. The MOU will be able to facilitate academic staff and student exchanges, research collaborations, joint education (double degree) programmes in the field of Information Technology (IT) and Engineering.

University Hospital Receives Facelift, Remodelling On Course

In 2017, the Leadership placed the management of the Makerere University Health Services under the College of Health Sciences (CHS). This decision coincided with works being undertaken by the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Makerere University as compensation for the land annexed during expansion of Makerere Hill Road.
