About eighty plant breeders and researchers from Uganda and other countries converged at Makerere University Agricultural Research Institute (MUARIK) to undergo training on Digital Data Collection and Management in plant breeding from 26th November-1st December 2017.

The outgoing Director, Estates and Works Department (EWD)-Eng. Fred Nuwagaba has today Thursday, 30th November 2017 handed over office to his newly-appointed counterpart Eng. Christina Kakeeto. The brief handover ceremony was held at the EWD Offices, Makerere University and witnessed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance and Administration)-Prof. William Bazeyo, University Bursar-Mr. Augustine Tamale, Manager Records and Information, Human Resources Directorate (HRD)-Mr. Ssanyu Lawrence, who represented the Acting Director-Mrs.

Mak Releases Another New Soybean Variety Maksoy 6N

Prof.Phinehas Tukamuhabwa - A Makerere Plant breeder defends his data before the National Variety Release Committee on Friday 24th November 2017 at MAAIF's Namalere Department of Crop Protection. Right is a sample of the new Maksoy 6N which is high yielding, early maturing (under 120 days) with high protein and oil content of 41% and 20 % respectively.

A new soybean variety Maksoy 6N has been released to the public.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), Makerere University held its inaugural workshop on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning on Wednesday 22nd November 2017. The goal of the workshop was to raise awareness among the staff and student body on the concepts of machine learning and latest trends and research in that area.
