New Makerere Vice-Chancellor Designate Aims High

Newly appointed Makerere University Vice-chancellor Professor Barnabas Nawangwe has vowed to position the Ugandan university as the leading institution for academic excellence and innovation in Africa.

He has also promised to increase the number of graduate students to 30% of the total enrolment, up from the current 16%, while at the same time strengthening graduate training and research.

Training in Pig Artificial Insemination for Districts in Uganda

DIVERSE – PIG Phase II is an ongoing research project in the Department of Agricultural Production, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Makerere University funded by Competitive Grant Scheme, National Agricultural Research Organization. The project is organizing to train fifty (50) AI technicians from 12 districts in pig artificial insemination. The twelve districts are; Masaka, Kayunga, Lira, Gulu, Hoima, Jinja, Mityana, Mpingi, Mbale, Luwero, Soroti and Kiryandongo.

Mak Hands Over MUARIK-CAES Postgraduate Lab Site to Contractor

The College of  Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES), Makerere University has today 10th August 2017 handed over the site for the construction of Post Graduate Laboratories at the Makerere University Agricultural Research Insititute Kabanyolo (MUARIK) to Excel Construction Company Ltd under the AfDB-HEST Project.

The project is estimated to cost US$ 1.2million and construction is expected to last nine (09) months, slated for completion in June 2018.

Similar to the other routine trainings offered to student interns at Makerere University School of Public Health ResilientAfrica Network (RAN), this session was also designed to not only shape the interns into better employees in the future but also nurture them into better communicators moving forward. The training was conducted by Ms. Harriet Adong, the RAN Communications Manager and Ms. Loyce Twongirwe, the Eastern Africa Resilience Innovation Lab Administrative Assistant.
