On 13th July 2017, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance and Administration), Professor Barnabas Nawangwe hosted the Provost of Earth University in Costa Rica, Prof. Daniel Sherrard to discuss opportunities for continued collaboration among Universities as well as sustainable development in Africa.

Chad Blevins, Geo Mappers Visit RAN

Following the just concluded first ever  State of the Map conference organized by the OpenStreetMap (OSM) community in Africa, Chad Blevins from the Geo Center at the Global Development Lab, USAID Washington D.C together with 6 Geo Mappers from Uganda, Kenya and Malawi visited Makerere University's RAN Innovation Lab. During this visit, the team toured the Innovation Lab, tried out some innovation project prototypes in the space and engaged with the RAN student interns.

The internship opportunity at the ResilientAfrica Network (RAN), Makerere University gives students hands-on skills to further equip them for the life after school. Some of the trainings offered to the students include; the MKITS and Design Thinking (DT) training, July 4-5 and 10-11, 2017 respectively. MKITS stands for Modular Knowledge and Information Transaction System.  MKITS are short informative videos which are captured, edited and widely shared to further enhance learning.

Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations (2018/2019)

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University, announces that the Mature Age Entry Scheme examinations for the academic year 2018/2019 entry will be held on Saturday 16th December, 2017.

To be eligible for the Mature Age Entry Examinations, the candidate must be at least 25 years old before 1st August, 2018.

Innovator teams currently benefiting from the RAN incubation program, Makerere University have engaged in the innovation community dissemination exercise all throughout the year 2017. The dissemination of the second phase of Improved Push and Pull project that manages two major nuisances in maize farming i.e. striga weed and borer pests without the use of chemicals took place in June 2017 in Uganda’s Iganga district, Buyanga Sub County. The innovation community dissemination exercise was led by the RAN team.

Archbishop Rededicates Expanded St. Francis Chapel

On Sunday 9th July 2017, St. Francis faithful, invited guests and well-wishers assembled at Makerere University to praise, worship and thank the Almighty God for their newly refurbished and expanded sanctuary-the magnificent St. Francis Chapel. The Chapel’s capacity expanded from 450 to 1,350 seats per service.
