Makerere University School of Public Health ResilientAfrica Network (RAN) team engaged partners across the RAN Network (18 African Universities in 13 Countries) in the 4th RAN Partners Forum held at the RAN Innovation Lab on Plot 28, Upper Kololo Terrace, Kampala Uganda. This Partners Forum was guided by the theme ‘Demonstrating RAN’s 5 Year Impact and how it can be sustainably scaled beyond the current award’.

GoU & MAK Set To Host CBA11 International Conference

Preparations into the 11th International Conference on Community-Based Adaptation (CBA11) to climate change are complete. The Conference is being organized by the  International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), Uganda’s Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE), Makerere University Centre for Climate Change Research and Innovations (MUCCRI) and the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD).

The Makerere University Directorate of Internal Audit has carried out a further phase out arrangement that will oversee the unit dropping the review of payments up to UGX50milllion effective 1st July 2017. This was revealed during a Stakeholders Workshop on Payment review Mechanism:Internal Controls, Risk Management, Compliance and Governance held on Friday 16th June 2017 in the Main Hall.

A delegation from the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) visited Liberia 14-16 June 2017. Facilitated by the Counsel General of Liberia to Uganda, Dr. Thelma Awori, the purpose of the visit was to meet with leaders of key research and tertiary education institutions in Liberia and to dialogue with key government ministries on building high level skills to support agricultural led growth in Liberia. The high level delegation was received by Her Excellency Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of the Republic of Liberia on 16 June 2017.

This was yet another opportunity for RAN to present 12 abstracts, host the Deliberative Polling (DP) symposium sharing about DP exercises in Uganda, Ghana, Senegal and Malawi under the moderation of Prof. Jim Fishkin, Professor of Communication Political Science at Stanford University.

June 12-13, 2017 saw Makerere University's ResilientAfrica Network (RAN) team engage with Agha Khan Foundation Canada  to implement a Human Centered Design Training to support and strengthen their civil society sub-projects in Africa and Asia as part of the 5-year $100 million Partnership for Advancing Human Development in Africa and Asia (PAHDAA) also known as the Supporting Civil Society Initiatives (SCSI) project.
