Mak 67th Ceremony Kicks Off, Graced by Rt. Hon. Prime Minister

The Makerere University 67th Graduation Ceremony has kicked off today 21st February 2017 with a total of two hundred sixty one (261) students graduating with first class degrees in their respective courses. Set to be presided over by the Chancellor Prof. Ezra Suruma, the four day ceremony will run from 21st to 24th February 2017.

Mak Launches First Centre of Excellence in Waste Management in Uganda

The College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (CAES), Makerere University has officially opened the first Centre of Excellence in Waste Management in Uganda at the Makerere University Agricultural Research Institute Kabanyolo (MUARIK). The Centre is to be used to train farmers on how to sort, compose, make biogas and set  up demonstration plots on how to use agricultural waste.

The February 2017 Pitch Tuesday at the ResilientAfrica Network (RAN), Makerere University featured the innovation; Scaling up Safe and Comfortable Bodas (SACOB) Saving Groups. The innovation is aimed at bringing together community saving groups to acquire and own motor cycles (Bodas) with a carrier that can be used for routine and emergency transport of patients in rural communities. With this transport platform, the members will have a chance to own a fleet of “low cost ambulances” and the revenue generated will be channeled into savings.

On 7th February 2016, the Second Vice President of Lions Club International; Lion Gudrun Bjort Yngvadottir paid a courtesy call to the Vice Chancellor of Makerere University. This was during her three days trip that aimed at meeting and fellowshipping with the Lions Fraternity in Uganda.
