The Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Ruhakana Rugunda established a committee to review the Makerere University's Fees Policy. In the view of involving all stakeholders in the new fees policy fomulation, the comittee would like to receive comments/contributions from the general public.

Makerere Mature Age Entry Applications 2017/18

The Academic Registrar, Makerere University, announces that the Mature Age Entry Scheme examinations for the academic year 2017/2018 entry will be held on Saturday 17th December, 2016.

To be eligible for the mature age entry examinations, the candidate must be at least 25 years old before 1st August, 2017.

RAN Pitch Tuesday-Turning Ideas Into Real Innovative Solutions

A prototype of the improved sewing machine presented at RAN Pitch Tuesday by Paul Omare, a mechanical engineering diploma holder, May 2016, RAN, MakSPH, CHS, Makerere University, Kampala Uganda

Presenting an improved Sewing Machine, Paul Omare, a mechanical engineering diploma holder, studied the mechanism of sewing machines and discovered that he could manipulate the system to have only a single thread wrought into a stitch.

In addition, this sewing machine is also cost effective since the materials used to make it are cheap and locally readily available.  The total cost of the proposed solution is only 100,000 Uganda Shillings.

The Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Sports with support from the African Development Bank (AfDB) organized a two day internship training program to prepare students for the marketplace.

CFA-3rd Africa Prize for Engineering Innovations

RAENG Third Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation 2016

Applications are invited from any innovator in sub-Saharan Africa. Innovations must solve a local challenge, and be scalable – and can be at various stages of development.

Applicants do not need to be qualified engineers, and the Prize has in the past seen successful entries from accountants to students as young as 21.
