Makerere University and Embassy of France Set to Host Kampala Geopolitics Conference

The Vice Chancellor of Makerere University-Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe and the Ambassador of France-H.E Stéphanie Rivoal signing a Memorandum of Understanding for the Kampala Geopolitics Conference scheduled to take place on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th October 2018 at Makerere University.

On Wednesday 25th July 2018, the Vice Chancellor of Makerere University-Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe and the Ambassador of France-H.E Stéphanie Rivoal signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Kampala Geopolitics Conference scheduled to take place on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th October 2018 at Makerere University.

The Kampala Geopolitics Conference will bring on board Makerere University Professors, researchers, staff, students, Ugandans and regional experts as well as researchers from France and Germany to engage in interactive debates. The Conference will provide a platform for researchers from France and Germany to interact and network with their counterparts in East Africa.

The Vice Chancellor of Makerere University-Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, the Ambassador of France-H.E Stéphanie Rivoal, the Director of  Legal Affairs- Mr.  Henry Mwebe, the Senior Public Relations Officer - Ms. Ritah Namisango, the Personal Assistant to the Vice Chancellor-Mr. Gordon Murangira and the team from the French Embassy.

With the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the partners namely Embassy of France to Uganda, Makerere University, Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Alliance Francaise Kampala and UN Women are focused on hosting an interactive and dynamic event in Kampala that will create a platform for dialogue and free exchange of ideas cutting across contemporary, local and international Geopolitics.

The MOU stipulates that the Kampala Geopolitics Conference will provide a platform for building strong networks of expertise from France, Germany and Africa as well as free flow of ideas and open discussions in a creative yet informative way; contributing to the generation of knowledge.

Scheduled to start on Friday 26th October 2018 from 09:00am to 5:15pm, followed by a Concert at the Makerere University Freedom Square from 5:30pm to 08:00pm, and running up to Saturday 27th October 2018 from 09:00am up to 5:30pm, the Kampala Geopolitics Conference will include formal round tables, interactive and creative discussions in an open space where participants will present their ideas for discussion using the most convenient formats.
